Feliz Navidad
I Love Christmas. I think everyone does, but there are so many things about Christmas that make me happy.
I just got back from Christmas Eve dinner with Les and Elaine. Is it selfish to say I love that I get them all to myself sometimes? We went to The Olive Garden for dinner and as per my request got some delicous Maverick ice cream cones on the way home. We're staying at Lindsey and Travis' tonight which will be so fun. A night full of putting the excited kiddies to bed, treats, games, movies, and anticipation for a great Christmas day. I can't wait :) Merry Christmas!

Baby Colston
FYI: This pic of linds was taken about 10 minutes post-delivery. Can you believe how hot she looks? I know...ridiculous. That is Linds for you! She wore the hospital gown I made her for her b-day and she looked ADORABLE! Cutest preggers i've ever seen. This pic of Trav was also taken post-delivery, he's looking great as well ;) With these two for parents no wonder this lil' guy came out looking so good!!

Sweet, adorable, old people. Oh...and chocolate brown hair.
Today at church we had a great lesson about becoming charitable. I really got to thinking about how it is something that can become part of our nature. I made a mental goal that I wanted to make an effort to become more service oriented. I know there are opportunities all around us to serve, we just need to become aware and be willing! After I got home from church I was reading through some blogs and a friend of mine posted this quote on hers.
“Generally speaking, the most miserable people I know are those who are obsessed with themselves; the happiest people I know are those who lose themselves in the service of others. I recall visiting a college campus where I heard the usual complaining of [students] about the pressures of school—as if it were a burden rather than an opportunity to partake of the knowledge of the earth—complaints about [roommates], [complaints about] housing and food. I counseled those [students] that if the pressures of school were too heavy, if they felt to complain then I could suggest a cure for their problems. I suggested they lay their books aside for a few hours and go visit someone who is old and lonely, or someone sick and discouraged. By and large, I have come to see that if we complain about life, it is because we are thinking only of ourselves” -Gordon B. Hinckley
I absolutely love it. What a true and inspiring principle. I feel like President Hinkley was always good to remind us that it is only when we point our arrows outward that we will truly be able to be happy. What an opposite principle from what the way the world thinks. The world would have you believe that if you are unhappy you should take "me time" to make yourself happy. Quite a contrast....So after I read this lo and behold our neighbor came in our door and told us they were going to go sing at an assisted living home and they wanted us to come. My adorable roomies and I were mid-lunch and in our PJ's so we gave a 1/2 hearted..ehhh ummm...k...maybe...and then he left. As soon as he walked out of the door we decided we really should go, so we hurried and changed and went and met the group. It was a good thing Roxanne, Benita, and I decided to go because we double to the numbers of the group. There were only 7 of us, and the other 4 were ward members that I didn't know very well. We headed over to Jamestown Assisted Living Center and the people at the front desk gave us a list of the individuals who we could go and visit. Can I just say ADORABLE. We spent the next hour and a half talking to these amazing individuals who you could tell were so happy just to have visitors. We sang to them and got to know them a little bit better. It was almost heart braking to leave because you could tell that they were pretty lonely. As we left I just felt so good. Despite the realization of the lonliness of some of these sweet people, I felt like we'd really helped bring happiness and love, and it was so easy. I will definitely be going back. I think it made me happier than it made them.
Oh yeah, and yesterday. I dyed my hair brown. Traci and I have been joking about it for the past few times i've got my hair done because my hair has been so boring the past little while, not much change. SO, she helped me be brave, and she did an AMAZING job. I really like it! Here's a preview...

Scrum-diddly-umptious!
Ok, So all credit here goes to my sister Nichole. I stayed at her house over Thanksgiving and she had made these pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. I seriously died over them. I couldn't believe how good they were....we're talking melt in your mouth good. So I bugged her for the recipe forever and she sent it to me. If you like pumpkin bread or cookies or anything like that you will LOVE these. I promise. I made them a few days ago, and I was reminded once again how good they are.
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins
3 cups sugar
6 eggs ( I used 4 eggs and 4 egg whites)
1 T. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. ginger
1 T. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 c. milk chocolate chips
2 c. butter (I used 1 cup butter and 1 cup of applesauce)
1 large can pumpkin
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 T. vanilla
1 T. baking powder
4 1/2 cups flower
Mix butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add spices and flour. Mix in pumpkin slowly. Add chocolate chips last. Fill in muffin tins. Bake @ 350 for 15-20 minutes ( maybe longer depending on oven check with toothpick)
This recipe makes a ton, so I froze a bunch of them. They taste so good after you pop them into the microwave for 30 seconds...melted chocolate chips..mmmm. Thanks Nichole!!

Gobble, Gobble, Gobble....
For Thanksgiving I went to AZ to visit the fam. It was SO fun! We always manage to fit in all my favorite things while I'm there and I just love it. It was a weekend full of eating out, shopping, working out, going to movies, playing games, and watching Christmas movies (Kiley and I managed to watch a different Christmas movie every night, so fun!). I ended up staying at the Barney's with Kiley who was nice enough to let me share her bed with her. Ki and I had so much fun all week playing together. It is so crazy to me, she isn't the little girl i used to babysit! I feel like she is my age, I think she feels the same way ;). We all ran the 10K turkey trot on Thanksgiving day which was a fun way to start the day. Nichole was my workout buddy while I was in AZ, and we ran together and made some good time. Bryson my 7 year old Nephew ran the 6 miler as well. It was so fun to see him challenge himself. I was proud of him! I see a future olympian. Here are some photos from the week.

Sleepy Friday...
Aren't Fridays supposed to be the easiest...most relaxing day of the week? Whoever designed my schedule forgot that unwritten rule...oh wait...that was me. My Friday usually goes something like this...
5:30 AM wake up get ready and go to work
6:30-11:00 AM train (for some reason Friday is like the golden day for all of my clients...who knows why?? Maybe they feel like they'll be able to sneak in that Friday night dessert if they work real hard...) It's a good thing I have awesome clients, and I absolutely LOVE training ALL of them!
11:00-12:15 Squeeze in a workout...always rushed on Fridays, but better than nothing. Then I feel like I can sneak in that Friday night dessert ;)
12:15-12:45 BUST it home, Shower (yeah I'm like a speed demon on Fridays), eat some lunch, and Get ready to head to Point.
1:00-6:00 Work @ Point. Crank up the Itunes and sip some DDP, so as to stay awake to work! It's a good thing Fridays @ Point are pretty chill and I get to sit down cause I'm always super tired at this point in the week!
6:00...I stumble out of work, glad to see the weekend. Now it's time to try and work up the energy to go play with friends and such...I'll be honest sometimes it's rough. And sometimes, it just takes a little DDP to get me going!
1:00...2:00ish...I stumble blindly to my bed after my friends have successfully kept me going all night. One thing is true...I LOVE Saturdays. I get to sleep in!
I'll leave you with some photos from the past week...Exhibit A: Benita's B-day. Precious.
Exhibit B: Heath came into town last Saturday and we got to go to dinner with her and hang out for a bit. It was so fun! Love her...also precious.

The adventures of Pegs and Midge
Once upon a time there were these two girls who both loved to dance. Both decided that dancing in highschool was probably a good idea, so they both tried out for their high school dance team. Luckily, both happened to have some pretty sweet moves, and they both made it. Coincidentally both girls happened to be the same height, and they became kickline partners. Due to their perfectly straight high kicks, and sassy smiles they may or may not have stolen the show. This was the beginning of a beautiful friendship; one full of green, blue, wheelbarrows, and state championships of course. One of the girls was a year older than the other girl, so she moved into the crazy grown up world first. Luckily, her alma mater needed a little help, and beckoned her back to help coach the team she loved so much. The two kickliners were instantly reunited. Kickliner #1 loved having Kickliner #2 come visit her at college, and Kickliner #2 loved having Kickliner#1 as her coach. As soon as the younger of the two graduated becoming roommates was a must. The two realized they had more in common then they thought. They became very good at traveling, shopping, road-tripping, eating at their favorite resturaunts, baking, and they even kept up thier dancing skills. They made some amazing friends and memories, and made sure their rooms were always right next to eachother. Soon everyone associated the two as peas in a pod, even confusing the two at times. Kickliner #1 an Kickliner #2 continued to be best friends. They loved to eat popcorn, workout, make fun new friends, go on trips, go shopping, and drink diet dr. peppers. Yep...two peas in a pod they were...
XOXOXO Happy B-day Beni! You are the bestest friend ever!!!!
(tune in for the rest of the story when Kickliner #1 and Kickliner #2 meet handsomely, adorable, smart twins and they have a dual wedding...and then they coach a drill team...to carry on the legacy,)

Happiness
With all that has been going on lately with politics, the economy, and everything else, it seems everyone is constantly looking at the downside of things. I realized the other day that sometimes listening to it frequently starts to rub off on me and my attitude becomes more negative. I become more cynical about my life and the bad side of everything is all I see as well. I know this isn't how it has to be, we may not be able to change our circumstances, but we can change how we react to them. Let me make it clear that I know life isn't made up of ice cream, sing-alongs, and sunshine (although I wouldn't mind if it were). I also realize that we can't brush negative circumstances and outcomes under the rug and by doing so magically make them disappear. We all have our share of trials, problems, and difficulties. I am a firm believer in the power of a positive attitude. I feel like we all have the ability to be happy, despite the "downsides" in our lives. It is up to us to make a conscious decision as to what our attitude outcome will be.
One thing that helps remind me to have a good attitude is to think of all the things that make me happy in life...you'll find i'm easily pleased...
My family, my friends, the gospel, exercising, the gospel, guilt-free desserts, baking, cooking, taking pictures and mercilessly posting them on my blog and facebook, really good movies that make me think, really funny movies that let me stop thinking for a bit, frozen yogurt, diet dr. pepper, arizona, shopping, Christmas, Christmas Shopping, Rob & Big, sleeping in, unexpected text messages, having my arm tickled, reading a really good book, my ipod, finding new music, funny youtube videos, good smells (baked goods, cinnamon pinecones, clean kitchens, garlic, etc.) a clean car, cold cereal, seeing old friends, inside jokes, new clothes, being crafty, service, brushing my teeth, eating at my favorite resturaunts, visits at work, BAM, dancing, laying out, getting my hair done, general conference, driving with the windows down, beautiful weather, phone calls from the fam, getting to go home, I could go on and on and on...there really are so many little things that make me happy in life...
If you haven't had a chance to read Elder Uchtdorf's Talk from Womens Session of General Conference please do... It's SO good!

Halloween
After dinner we headed up to Brad's cabin for a Halloween party. It was so much fun! Everyone came dressed up. There was a ton of food...and sweets of course. I was reminded why I don't buy candy. No self control, if it's in front of me I eat it.
There were some fantastic costumes...Wes: Waldo. Brad: Sumara from the ring. (He was trying to make the makeup look like blood. It was pretty funny)
Rob came with giant smarties taped all over his pants. He was a "smarty pants."
We all hung out and played games and just talked for a while. I love being in a place where everyone is there to just hangout. It is so relaxing. We danced, had a mario-kart tournament, played Halloween Charades (as per Brad's request), watched a scary movie, and of course played the cabin favorite Ghost in the Graveyard.
We slept over, and woke up to Brad cooking up some pumpkin pankcakes. YUM! It was so much fun! Thanks Boo-Rad!!

One Year Older and Wiser Too....right??
Seriously, could these kids be any cuter? I can't wait to see what baby #3 looks like!
I got home on monday night and my adorable friends insisted that we bring in my b-day with a bang, so we went and got some frozen yogurt (thanks Tanner), and Cami and Benita made me cupcakes. They were so cute! At 12:00 I blew out the candles!!
My B-day was such a great day! I slept in, went to the gym, and headed into work where I had a Bajio's salad waiting for me! Lindsay P came and visited me at work too which was so fun! I love when I get to see her :) After work I met some friends at Carrabbas for dinner...DELICIOUS, and it was off to our house for my b-day "dance party."
It was so fun to see lot's of good friends that I don't always get to see all the time. Thanks to everyone who came by to wish my a happy b-day and say hello!
Benita gave me the coolest ring it says "BAM" on it and it's pink and gold...amazing...The meaning behind it is a joke that probably only she and I find funny, but it was so thoughtful and cute. I LOVED it!!
Don't worry you just turn on the music and we'll start dancin'!
I had such a good night! One more year down.
I have the best friends and family!! Year 24 is going to be a good one!!!
