Lunch with Gap and Lil' Sister Kelly...

On Saturday I met Liz and Chelsey for a LONG overdue lunch reunion. We went to Olive Garden which was, of course, delicious, AND Chels brought her little munchkin, Alli, which was so fun. I seriously could eat that little girl up. She's SOO cute! We had a great time reminiscing on the old days. I guess a little background here might be helpful...Liz and I became friends in 4th grade in Mr. Strong's class. We immediately were inseperable. This was solidified when our parents chose lots across the street from eachother to build houses on. We were in heaven. It was seriously the best thing EVER. Chels was in our ward that we moved into, and she lived just down the street form Liz and I. We were friends with her from before from being in the same classes at school, and such. (I have proof of this. In 3rd grade I broke a picture on her head in a heated round of birthday "Heavy Heavy Hangover." She also lived across the street from my cousins so we walked to 7-11 together a time or two.) Anyways... this fabulous threesome really came together when we all moved up to Cher Apple together.
We spent many an hour together... a lot of my greatest memories from growing up involve these girls. We were borderline rediculous...nicknames, notes, music videos, sleepovers, boys, savage garden, student council, girls camp, academy for girls, family trips, forts, you name it...we did it. And we did it well, might i add. I always am so thrown off when people say they hated Jr. High because I loved it. We had SO much fun. Chels and I were definitely sad when Lizard had to move to Highland.
I really feel like I've always been blessed with such great friends, and these girls are prime examples. I LOVE EM'! We also got to see Jaclyn (Dodson) Gunter who works at the OG. She was also a really good friend all growing up, so that was fun.
Chelsey's baby is seriously SO cute. I wanted to put her in my pocket and take her home with me!!
Let's not go so long before the next meet up...ok??

She got me!

Linds tagged me so here goes...The rules are: List 6 quirks about yourself and then tag six people. Leave them a message on their blog letting them know they have been tagged.

1. I am a very routine person. I wake up, eat breakfast, go to work at Elevate where I train. Go to the gym on my way home and workout myself, go home, get ready, eat lunch, go to work at Point... It's not that I'm not up for some spontaneity I just happen to have to do the same things every day...

2. I LOVE frozen yogurt. I always want it. Always. Sometimes I eat it for my dinner. It's just soooo good. I don't ask people to go with me 1/2 the time because I think people are sick of me asking...i'm an addict.

3. I love music. I love to search for new great artists, and find new songs that I love so much I want to listen to them on repeat. I love driving down the street with my music really loud and my windows down. One time I had a friend in my car that is going to school to be a speech/language pathologist and she said I listen to my music way too loud and that if i keep doing it I could potentially lose hearing...I must not have fully heard her...oops...

4. I have become an obsessive cleaner. I think my family probably will laugh at this because I used to be the MESSIEST kid. I hated cleaning my room. Barbies and American dolls from corner to corner. Now I can't stand messy or dirty. I hate when my furniture is dusty, don't like my clothes on the floor, despise a dirty bathroom, and I can't stand having crap in my car. I never saw that coming.

5. I am a picky meat eater. I don't mean to be. I only like chicken and turkey. I like it prepared really thin, cooked fully, and trimmed of all possible fat, vein, tendon....yep gross....

6. I love health and fitness. I love to work out, and I don't feel right if I don't get my daily sweat in. I really think it makes my mood better, and everything else seems to feel better too! Eating healthy makes me happy, and I like to try out new treats and recipes with healthier twists, that way i don't feel so bad when I eat them all ;)

I tag, Benita, Katie G, Heather, Jenna, Lindsey P, and Mom.....and anyone else who wants to play :)

A Weekend @ Boo Rad's Cabin

I should preface this blog post by saying I have some pretty sweet friends. These are most definitely some of them. Brad has been a good friend since I moved to King Henry like 3 or 4 years ago. We've since become traveling buddies, and have been to Chicago, Vegas, Boise, St. George, and Cali (a few times). He is such an awesome guy, and has been a great friend! He introduced us to Rob Graham a few years ago as well. Rob wasn't as blessed to join us at BYU, but he managed to come up and visit from the U quite a bit ;). Benita, Brad, Rob, and I have a good time. We seriously laugh non-stop with these guys. We met them up in Kamas to go to Brad's cabin for a weekend get away, which was so fun. We met at this little resturaunt in a cable car that is new in Oakley that some rich guy brought (yes actually transported the cable car) across the country, and replicated it exactly here in Utah. It's such a fun place to go if you ever get a chance! After eating there we headed up to the cabin.

After getting up there and playing some speed scrabble, snorta, and eating some treats we decided to play ghost in the graveyard. A favorite game of my childhood and of previous visits to the cabin as well. Brad's cabin is really tall and REALLY dark. So everyone starts upstairs and all the lights are turned off. Brad provides some extremely scary music that is loud enough to scare the crap out of pretty much anyone, and someone is chosen to hide. I'm not sure which is worse, being the one who is it or having to wander through complete darkness trying to find the person hiding. BOTH really scary if you ask me. It was super fun though. Everyone really gets so scared. It's hard not to! At one point we found the "ghost" hiding in one of the bedrooms in the basement and I was pushed out of the room (screaming at the top of my lungs) by one of the guys there (also screaming at the top of his lungs) until we made it out. It's funny how someone suddenly becomes scary because you find them hiding...

After we were plenty scared Brad started telling us about this abandoned cabin that was up the mountain a bit. I guess a couple moved there with their little boy, and the boy came up missing and then the wife came up missing a few days later. There were search parties sent out and finally they found the body of the wife in the bottom of the outhouse, and the boy was never found. The man dissapeared and wasn't ever found, and the house was abandoned for a long time. Brad said that a few families tried to move into it, but everytime something would happen to where the sale would fall through or something would stop them from moving in. So of course...we had to go venture out to see it. 2 AM wondering through the forrest in pitch black...yeah I wasn't scared AT ALL.

We mangaed to fit all 9 of us in Brad's car...quite a funny sight.

Benita and I linked on to our new friend Rob Shaw, and pretty much wouldn't let him leave us.

So we get to where we are like 10 ft from the house and all of the sudden we hear this huge snapping sound, so naturally all of us turn and high tail it back to the car...screaming...again. We all had flip flops on and there were branches in the way of the path all over, so we had some lost shoes, and trips that made it even worse! We made it back to Brad's car, all panting and freaking out, and brad is just laughing his head off. As I'm sure you guessed the story is totally not true. For some reason the cabin has been left unfinished and has been boarded up, but he doesn't really know why. We were all mad at him because we assumed it was him making that snapping noise, but he swore it wasn't and that is why he was the first one to turn and run. Funny!

Don't you be confused, Obama didn't really come to the cabin. But that mask DID however make an appearance while we were playing ghost in the graveyard. Now if that isn't scary, I don't know what is?? We woke up Saturday and made a delicous breakfast and just hung out. It was SO beautiful, and pretty much perfect temperature!

We decided to take a little outing in Brad's Rhino. We went down to the tennis courts where everyone played tennis, and I snuck away to go for a run in the mountains. It was SO pretty outside I couldn't resist.

We finished out the day with a BBQ and the BYU game. It was so much fun! Good times....Good times.

Addiction? Obsession? Enslavement??

So, I was sitting here today, on my computer of course, wondering to myself what I used to do. You know, before absolutely everything we did involved using the computer. I mean really, think about it. You can attribute every single thing you do to the computer and the internet...It's like...."check my blog"..."you can sign up online"..."they've got to have a website"..."i'll google that"..."I'll check him out on facebook"..."what was the name of that resturaunt?"...all day long. I mean, even the ultimate time-waster, shopping, can now be done from the comfort of your couch. Don't get me wrong, I think I'm coming off as complaining, and that isn't the case at all. I LOVE the new lifestyle that this phenomenon they call the World Wide Web has created, I'm just really trying to remember how I used to fill my spare time. In my apartment a few months ago the phonebook people left a phonebook on my doorstep. I think the updated Yellow Pages probably used to be a necessity, but I honestly can't tell you the last time I picked up a phone book. After all, why would I spend the time thumbing through all those pages when I could pull up the webpage in 2 seconds, find the address, a map of how to get there, and how popularly it's rated all at once. I love the fact that I get to catch up with people's lives that I don't talk to on a regular basis via the blogworld. I love email communication. I love being able to find anything, anywhere, at anytime. I love the ease of paying my bills online. I love being able to find recipies and tips on how to do pretty much anything you could possibly want. I love facebook. Enough said there, I just love it. I find it funny because whenever i'm bored it's like, flip on the Compaq. (Yep, still rockin' the Compaq. It's seen WAY better days. If you'd like to donate to the "Megan REALLY needs a new computer fund" let me know.) I shouldn't even just say it's when I'm bored, because that isn't entirely true. For some reason after I've gone for several wireless hours there is this hankering inside me to know how many notifications I'll have on the old FB, and if so and so has emailed me back yet. I know a lot of you feel the same way. I find it crazy because I know it didn't used to be this way. Now, before you go being all concerned about me being on the computer too much don't worry. I still actually do other things as well...I'm just saying...we didn't used to be so cybersavvy. Crazy how the times have changed.

Lisa & Stewart Falls

One of my best friends from High School, Lisa Watkins & I have always stayed in touch even though she has been up in Logan. She is one of those friends where we can not talk for a month or so, and when I see her or talk to her again it's like we've never been apart. She is one of the funniest people I know, and I LOVE hanging out with her. I was so happy when she moved to Salt Lake a few weeks ago because I knew I'd get to see her more. We decided we'd meet in the middle and go to dinner as often as we can. We met up last week and went to Pizza Factory. We pretty much have been obsessed with it ever since we both worked there together in high school. I love this girl!!

On Saturday Roxy, Cami, and I hiked Stewart Falls with Roxy's brother and some of his friends. It was such a pretty day. We ventured up the canyon thinking we'd be able to find it no problem. About 45 minutes later we found a spot where we thought might lead to the falls and we forged our own trail. From everything I've ever heard the hike is supposed to be more of a walk than a hike...this leads me to believe we were NOT on the correct trail because we were braving some rough terrain, but all the better for it right?

It was so pretty up in the mountains and the falls were absolutely beautiful.

might as well bring back the scrunchi too...

So I finally caved in and bought some skinny jeans. Something I vowed I would NEVER do. Really...the second I saw them trying to make a come back I was reminded of my life circa 1990 and I said I would NEVER. Moral of the story, never say never. I remember school shopping back in the day and seeing flare jeans at the Gap and I was like...are you kidding me...those are basically bell bottoms. Wouldn't be caught dead in a pair of those. Little did I know a few years later Mudd Jeans would take bellbottoms by storm as well. The same went for the 3/4 sleeve shirt. I mean honestly don't tell me the first time you saw one you didn't think, well why are her sleeve's so short? Somebody get this girl a bigger size. Pointy Toe'd shoes...Are those weapons or footwear? And the tunic top....I mean, is that a dress or a shirt? I'm so confused. Confession: I bought into all of them, and loved em all....

Bottom line. I love clothes, and fashion. I am always so interested in what new styles & trends come out, and though sometimes I'm doubtful at first...it seems like we always come around. What in the world will they rope me into next? I can't wait to look back on these pictures in 10 years. Yep, kids. I wore that. We all did. And you will too in about 20 years. So gear up.
