Who doesn't love a good outing to the airport?

Yesterday i flew home to Arizona to visit my fam for a few days. I have been very excited for this because it means I get to do all of my favorite things. Hang out with my family, Lay out, Shop, workout whenever I want, sleep in, play games, see movies, eat at really good places...you get the drift. So, after arriving at the airport I proceed on to security....so degrading...I'm sure you agree. Take of your shoes, jackets with buttons, jewelry, pants with safety pins all down the sides, and walk through this monitor like a herd of cattle while we look through all your stuff. Not like I have anything to hide, but I always wonder what the people think of me as I walk through the little monitor because I always seem to put my best "I am innocent and not hiding anything" face...and smile, hoping all the time they won't have me be the random selected passenger who gets wanded. Anyways...I made it through there safe, redress myself, and go up to my gate. I find a place to sit to wait until my plane boards. One think I love about the airport is it really brings out the best of the people watcher in me. I can't get enough of what is going on, pure entertainment. I see this lady to my left who is probably mid 20's blond, and taking advantage of the warm weather with a pair of sweet daisy dukes. She at some point grabs one of the plane serviceman (you know the ones in orange vests who wave the glowsticks) and seems to be complaining to him about how stressed out she is. Next thing i know he's gone momentarily and returns back to her with an ice cold can of coke. What is this a commercial? Do I need to start wearing booty shorts and complaining to people I've never met before so they'll come running to my aid with 32 oz. diet Dr. Pepper? incredible! This scene was interrupted by a sudden burst of Mariah Carey "all I want for christmas is you" I look to my right where the noise is coming from and it is none other than a middle aged Indian man's ringtone. I had to laugh to myself at that one, and repeatedly did so the 5 other times it rang before our flight took off. Finally our flight boarded, and I grabbed my luggage. (Might I add I'm not much of a light packer, so I'm always very proud of myself when i can carry on.) I flew southwest and snagged an "A" boarding pass so I was one of the first to get on. I found a seat near the front by the window...yesssss...and threw one bag on to it so I could get my other one in the overhead bin. As I tried to get it into the overhead bin it wasn't sliding as easily as I'd like, and all I kept seeing was flashes of Meet the Parents in my head. I was waiting for the flight attendant to come and take my bag away from me when this kind, tall gentleman came behind me and shoved it on in. Thank you sir. An hour and a half later I landed in Phoenix, where my daddy-o came and picked me up. On the way home he asked if I wanted to stop for a diet DP. I am my father's daughter. I'm so glad I made it ok, and I'm SO happy to be here!!

like mother like daughter

I have a proposal, and I want to get some feedback. I want to start quilting like my mom. I've done a few things with my mom's help and I've really loved it, so I want to keep going. With that said, Benita and I were thinking it would be fun to start our own mini quilt/craft group. It would be for any and everyone. We want to get together one Saturday out of the month for a few hours. Everyone can bring whatever it is they want to work on, quilting, scrapbooking, whatever... We can just sit and talk and we'll have lunch and treats. Basically it will just be a fun reason to get together!! (and who isn't looking for that??) anyways... let me know if you'd be interested...xoxoxo

rain, rain, go away...

Dear Mother Nature-
I realize that you obviously don't think Super Sonic did a good enough job on my car this Saturday when I JUST washed it, so you thought you'd help me out with another rinse job. Unfortunately you left a few rain spots on my perfectly clean black beauty. Next time if you could just let me take care of my own car washing I'd appreciate it.
Sincerely, Megan

Happy Mother's Day!

I know many of you know my mom, and can agree with me when I say she is clearly amazing. I just wanted to give her a little mother's day shout out to say thank you. Thanks for putting up with me all these years. Thanks for never giving up on me. Thanks for teaching me through your words and through your actions. Thank you for showing me what faith is. Thank you for teaching me how much one person can give of them self. Thank you for always supporting me in all that I've done. Thank you for coming to all my ALL DAY dance competitions, (and letting me sleep on your lap during church the day after.) Thanks for driving me to lessons, encouraging me, and having faith in my abilities. Thanks for not giving up on me and my messy room (you've said it yourself...i've changed my ways!) Thanks for letting me call you all the time. Thanks for listening to my problems. Thanks for teaching me to quilt, and cook, and be crafty. Thanks for loving me through all my imperfections. Thanks for being patient with me...and thanks for being the best mom I could possibly imagine. You really are so incredible! I love you!
p.s. I have to give a shout out to my two sisters who are amazing mothers as well! I hope to some day be like you Linds and Nichole. Your kids are so lucky to have such great examples to look to. You are both incredible!! And Linds thanks for being my pseudo-mom here in Utah!

My list for the summer...let's get this party started...

1. Read more. I have the biggest reading list. I really need to finish Les Mis, that is at the top of the list. Does anyone have suggestions for me of favorites I should be adding? I always love the input.
2. Get some sun. My favorite part of summer, although I think my working from 8-5 is going to put a damper on this...I better pray for beautiful Saturdays.
3. Take some good trips. I am all about the vacations whenever feasible. Newport is for sure in with the family, and I'm hoping Lake Powell '09 happens. I'll be headed of to AZ in a few weeks here. And of course, Boise for Heath's wedding. But if anyone is looking for a road trip I'm always in!
4. Make a Quilt, & a skirt. As many of you know my mom is a master crafter. She has taught me a lot, and I've even made a few things! I want to put my skills to the test and try and work on that domestication. I'm thinking we should start a Jr quilt group.
5. Keep up the Scrapbooking. I LOVE to scrapbook. I just need to keep myself on it.
6. Take LOTS of pictures. This won't be hard. My camera and I will be side by side.
7. Run the Y.
8. Hike Timp. I think we say this every year, but I REALLY want to.
9. Find a dance class to take. I miss dancing so much. I want to find a good class to go to.
10. Serve more. I need to do better. I need to go to the temple more, be a better VT, be a better roommate, do more random acts of service etc...I just need to be better!

I love summer!! I'm so excited to have a list of things to knock down...at least a start!

thanks a million...

I have been thinking a lot the past few days about gratitude and all of the things that I am thankful for. I'm reading a book right now called "What Happy People Know." It is an awesome book, and it talks a lot about how we need to constantly be realizing the great and wonderful things we have in our lives. I think I have been made acutely aware of when people show gratitude, and I think I can think my mom for this. I can distinctly remember being little and on several occasions running out the door hearing my mom calling behind me, "Don't forget to say thank you!." I've seen her example of being sure to let those around her know her appreciation for them, and I think it is a remarkable trait. I wish I was as good at it as she is. Because my mom always made such a big deal about being sure to say thank you to everyone, I seem to always notice when people do the same to me, and it makes me appreciate it that much more. I know I need to be better about it! So, here's a start. Thanks to all of you for being so great :) I am blessed to have the best family and friends in the world!

Traffic Schooling

Well i have just returned from my first (and hopefully only) traffic school experience. This is about how it went. First of all let me note that I don't think I deserved my ticket in the first place...I was going 47 on center street in orem. I thought the speed limit was 45, apparently its 35. LAME. So, I walk into the Orem Public Safety Department and I sit down in a silent room full of my fellow violators. Feeling like a kid in detention I looked around wondering, "what did you do?" Officer Denny Got us started and it wasn't long before the identities of my fellow classmates were made clear. On the front sat Nancy Know-it-all. She proceeded to raise her hand at every question, ask needlessly pointless questions, and answer other classmates questions before Officer Denny had a chance to. You know the type. She proceeded to express her perfection through all of her talking and at one point I wanted to interrupt her and remind her perfectness that she was sitting in the same spot as the rest of us...ticketed for breaking the rules. To my right sat Deffensive David, who I think was a little confused about his whereabouts. He was under the impression that he was in court and should be fighting his citation with officer Denny at every possible chance. That didn't get annoying at all... Back to my left we had Storytelling Steve who felt it necessary to add his own life experiences (of which there were many) to every point Officer Denny Made. If this wasn't enough we had Nodding Nedra in front of my who couldn't agree more with everything that was being said. The class itself wasn't too bad aside from my fellow classmates. We ended talking about DUI's and all I could think of was my favorite youtube video...i'm sure you'll enjoy it.
